Gone before your time.
Your legs would turn with rhythm and rhyme.
Some ask the reason why.
Some are torn and cry.
You are now the Runner in the Sky.

Lake “Q” has many faces.
You were a great presence volunteering or running the races.
You had natural ability and would always try.
With wings of eagles, man you could fly!
You are now the Runner in the Sky.

An age group winner and wonderful friend.
Our hearts are broken but someday will mend.
A stop at the Hot Spot to share time gone by.
A seat at the Lakeside bar and one more round to buy.
You are now the Runner in the Sky.

There is now a void in the races we run.
It’s not the same at the sound of the gun.
You mastered the hills of high.
You sure had speed no one could deny.
You are now the Runner in the Sky.

We will run with you in our hearts.
We will remember your quick wits and funny remarks.
We will remember your running stride.
In our own way, we each said our goodbye.
