The purpose of the Grand Prix Races is to:

1. Support local charities
2. Make the club more visible during races
3. Have the opportunity to run as a club
4. Earn points towards the Marathon Raffle (If race numbers are received for 2010)

This starts the new Grand Prix Series. As you know, points are earned throughtout the year for running Grand Prix Races and volunteering at certain races. You can only earn 1 point per month for running a Grand Prix Race.

The list of Grand Prix Races will be listed here as well as the current points earned for each club member.

Read below the current Grand Prix for the month and standings to learn about the "Guidelines."

MYSTIC RUNNERS CLUB GUIDELINES FOR BOSTON MARATHON NUMBER RAFFLE

2010 Boston Marathon

Boston Marathon number recipients will be chosen via a lottery to be held at the annual club banquet , typically held in November.

To be eligible for a marathon number a candidate must meet the following criteria:

Dues must be paid in full at the time of the drawing. You must have purchased a ticket to the banquet.

The member must complete a half marathon or longer between the dates of Sept. 1, 2008 and Jan. 31, 2009 in a race listed on Coolrunning, or a race or staged run, approved by the board of directors.

Numbers are non-transferable and must be used by the recipient. If the recipient is unable to participate in the marathon or does not require a club-issued number, s/he must return it immediately to the Board so that it may be assigned to an alternate.

Every member meeting the above criteria who wants to participate in the drawing will receive one entry.

Members will receive extra entries by:

I. RUNNING IN THE FOLLOWING EVENTS:

ONE POINT FOR EACH UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 10 POINTS

Wednesday night Quannapowitt runs

Track/coached workouts

Grand Prix races (Max. one point per month)

II. VOLUNTEER SERVICE TO THE CLUB

Served on the Board of Directors – 5 points

Officers (Pres., VP, Sec. Treas. receive an additional 2 points)

Managed the Website-5 points

Served as Race Director of the Swimsuit Classic - 5 Points

Worked the weekly Quannapowitt run (1 point for each night, to a maximum of 20 points)

Managed the clothing inventory/sales- 5 Points

III. VOLUNTEER SERVICE ON BEHALF OF THE CLUB

Volunteering at races, such as the “Run to Remember,” at which the club receives funding, and our own Swimsuit Classic.

In the process of determining eligibility for marathon numbers, the Board may at its discretion make exceptions to the above guidelines.

For those not interested in entering the drawing for a marathon number, the board will offer an alternate prize.

The Grand Prixs run from Nov (the weekend after the banquet) until Nov the following year, the weekend before the banquet. The ending period may be change several weeks prior to the banquet to allow for points review.
