Mystic Community

Message from your Mystic Board of Directors:

With love and compassion we reiterate that the purpose of the Mystic Runners is to support and encourage the sport of running and to improve the physical and mental health, and social well-being of its members. Our club stands with the black community against racism and injustice. We stand for equal justice for all Americans and are against any type of discriminatory attitudes and/or behavior.

We will continue in our support of local communities through running but will be intentional going forward in supporting more diverse events. We will look to other events and charities that will best contribute to the welfare of the local community and to excel as a community organization.

OPEN ROADS. OPEN MINDS.

Through our shared love of running, we aspire to build friendships, encourage others, and improve ourselves. We believe that the simple act of running—as well as the motivation, camaraderie, and support of a running community—should be universally accessible regardless of pace, ability, age, gender, race, sexual orientation, or other identities. We are not blind to these differences among us; we not only see but also celebrate the diversity of the Mystics, recognizing that we are enriched by it.

We welcome all those with an interest in running. Valuing the uniqueness of individuals, we aim to inspire a sense of belonging. We recognize that we all have biases, but we strive to be aware of them and set them aside, and we are committed to having candid, respectful conversations when unconscious bias is shown.

BROADENING OUR COMMUNITY

We show our Mystic pride by racing together at local events. We show our Mystic hospitality by inviting other groups to run alongside us on Wednesday evenings. And we show our Mystic generosity by making monthly charitable contributions.

Building upon these valued traditions, we seek in 2020 and beyond to broaden our reach, our community, and our horizons. While continuing to foster time-honored relationships, we will seek out new opportunities to connect with and support groups that are under-represented within the running community.

The Mystic Board of Directors welcomes your suggestions for Grand Prix races, club collaborations, and monthly charities.
